About the Event
What people have said about Jon:
Hi Lisa and Mark - I had been meaning to drop you a note saying how much I enjoyed the course and to send through a couple of photos for your files, so your email was a real prompt to do so.
I was trying to work out why I enjoyed it so much and I think it was a combination of a great teacher in Jon , such a lovely person to have to take us through the process; wonderful hosts who made us feel so at home (and of course the catering) and then, last but not least, the group of people taking the course. I enjoyed working with and chatting to everyone and I think we made a pretty good team all-in-all!. Please keep me posted...
All the best
— Marion
‘Thank you Jon’ is simply inadequate to express our sincere gratitude for such a unique wall. If you are reading this and want to come and see it, please do... “
— Jennifer Elwin
"Jon is currently the instructor for walling workshops conducted in SA by the Dry Stone Walls Association of Australia. Jon has excellent walling skills and very effectively communicates these to a wide range of learners.”
— Bruce Munday (DSWAA SA representative)
JRM Stonework was established in 2005 by Jon Moore , a Dry Stone Waller and Artisan Stonemason - to service residential, commercial and rural clients. In this workshop we will be working in a group of ten and constructing an 8m dry stone wall using the beautiful stone on the property. This has been set aside for some decades now and is just stunning.
Jon and his team specialise in the construction of dry stone walls and features, using both traditional and contemporary styles and techniques. As South Australia’s only certified wallers (Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain), JRM Stonework are a preferred contractor for the Dry Stone Walls Association of Australia (SA chapter) and have the unique skills and experience required for the conservation, repair and restoration of historic dry stone walls.
What we will cover:
- Introduction and course notes with recommended further reading
- Basic principles of dry stone walling
- History of dry stone walling
- Instruction and guidance
- Advice and access to further information
